This last Friday we got to experience our first iterative review, and after some strong last minute efforts from the whole group, we had completed our first deadline; Converting the majority of our animatic to 3D. We got some really constructive feedback from our professors and afterwards I was able to integrate them into our groups next set of deadlines in our collaborative Google Calendar. It was nice being face to face with the whole group for the first time as we started talking personal deadlines and story iterations and the excitement in the room as we had miniature breakthroughs was palpable. I have taken a more individual approach to deadline assignment, instead of putting people into group roles, we addressed What needed to be done, Who was willing to do it, and When they would be able to have it done by. This was really effective as it let everyone be in control of their own specific work and deadlines, and has hopefully fostered a stronger engagement in our productions productivity. I added new story and professor feedback notes to our Google File of shared documents so that we could begin adapting the story notes to a shot list and so on, and the other notes could be available for future reference. Lastly, I personally have noticed some difficult behavior from a group member; personal issues coming up last minute on days of our meetings, lack of updates and communication on important work, and general absence from our group presence. we addressed this lightly as a group and came to the decision to re-route some of the work said person would have been taking as to alleviate their conflicting schedules and assure important work is in the hands of engaged group members. I think it is a great solution until said member is able to engage more effectively, and gives us the product results we otherwise may have missed out on. I personally have taken some Set Modeling work to be finished before our next iterative review and am excited to have some actual pipeline work ahead of me! We have also had some really great work done on our Miro board by the whole team and I think it absolutely warrants a visit!
Until next time,
-Andy
